Purge unused memory on Mac OS X

There are some times you reach the memory limits of your Mac with big jobs. After they finish the Mac still lags and swap a lot. Instead of rebooting the computer to get a clean memory, you can open a Terminal and simply type the command:

purge

This will tell the system to activate the memory garbage collector.
